Presales Storage Backup Architect – Unstructured Data, Hybrid Cloud

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with clients and backup administrators to evaluate backup environments and develop scalable storage architectures.

• Determine the appropriate size for backup storage targets by considering capacity, change rate, retention, growth, backup frequency, concurrency, replication, recovery objectives, data reduction, and headroom assumptions.

• Convert backup configurations into storage, throughput, networking, resilience, and operational requirements.

• Analyze deduplication and compression performance and its implications for sizing.

• Lead workshops, assessments, proofs of concept, and technical validations for customers.

• Offer competitive insights on Dell EMC Data Domain and other enterprise backup solutions.

• Work in partnership with sales, channel partners, services, product management, and engineering teams.

• Design and document X10K enterprise backup and rapid recovery solutions.

• Conduct discovery sessions and establish transparent sizing models.

• Address performance and capacity challenges across backup software, networks, storage, workloads, and data reduction pathways.

• Deliver recommendations and trade-offs to both technical and executive audiences.

• Assist with RFIs, RFPs, competitive takeouts, business cases, and solution justifications.

• Develop sizing guidance, discovery checklists, reference architectures, competitive materials, and enablement resources for the field.

• Stay updated on backup and recovery trends, ransomware resilience, immutable storage, cyber recovery, cloud integration, and backup software advancements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of hands-on experience in designing, sizing, and positioning enterprise storage solutions.

• Significant experience in customer-facing presales, consulting, or solution architecture roles.

• Proficient in sizing storage targets for backup and recovery purposes.

• Solid understanding of backup administration, backup windows, recovery workflows, RPO, RTO, retention, replication, immutability, and recovery testing.

• Strong expertise in deduplication and compression techniques.

• Familiarity with at least two of the following: Commvault, Veeam, and Cohesity.

• Practical experience with Dell EMC Data Domain and DD Boost.

• Knowledge of enterprise object and file storage, including S3, NFS, and SMB protocols.

• Experience in planning, executing, and documenting customer POCs and performance validations.

• Exceptional skills in discovery, analysis, troubleshooting, communication, presentation, and engagement with executive audiences.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

• Background in backup platforms, protected environments, and enterprise backup solutions.
