This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +4 more states.
• Collaborate with clients and backup administrators to evaluate backup environments, pinpoint recovery gaps, and design scalable storage architectures.
• Determine backup storage targets by assessing capacity, change rate, retention, growth, backup frequency, streams, replication, recovery objectives, data reduction, and headroom assumptions.
• Convert configurations from Commvault, Veeam, Cohesity, and similar solutions into storage, networking, resilience, and operational requirements.
• Analyze deduplication and compression behavior, explaining workload factors that impact data reduction and sizing.
• Facilitate customer workshops, assessments, and proofs of concept.
• Provide expert insights on Dell EMC Data Domain and other enterprise backup targets.
• Work closely with sales, channel partners, services, product management, and engineering teams.
• Keep abreast of enterprise object and file storage within unstructured data and hybrid cloud strategies.
• Travel as necessary for strategic customers, partners, proofs of concept, and internal teams.
• Design and document X10K-centered enterprise backup and fast-recovery solutions.
• Validate source data and develop transparent sizing models that include assumptions, risks, growth projections, and capacity needs.
• Create strategies for full, incremental, synthetic full, forever-incremental, GFS, auxiliary copy, replication, archive, and long-term retention.
• Lead technical validation and proofs of concept with measurable throughput, restore, concurrency, recovery, failover, and integration criteria.
• Address performance and capacity challenges across backup software, media/proxy, network, storage target, source workload, and data reduction layers.
• Present recommendations and trade-offs to technical, procurement, and executive audiences.
• Assist with RFIs, RFPs, competitive takeouts, business cases, and solution justification.
• Develop reusable sizing guidance, discovery checklists, reference architectures, competitive materials, and field enablement resources.
• Remain informed on backup and recovery trends, ransomware resilience, immutability, cyber recovery, cloud integration, and backup software advancements.
• Over 8 years of hands-on experience in designing, sizing, and positioning enterprise storage solutions.
• Significant experience in customer-facing presales, consulting, or solution architecture roles.
• Proficiency in sizing storage targets for backup and recovery processes.
• Practical knowledge of backup administration, backup windows, recovery workflows, RPO and RTO, retention, replication, immutability, and recovery testing.
• Strong understanding of deduplication and compression techniques.
• Experience with at least two of the following: Commvault, Veeam, and Cohesity.
• Hands-on experience with Dell EMC Data Domain, including DD Boost concepts, capacity and performance sizing, data reduction expectations, and competitive positioning.
• Familiarity with enterprise object and file storage systems, including S3, NFS, and SMB.
• Experience in planning, executing, and documenting customer proofs of concept and performance validations.
• Exceptional skills in discovery, analysis, troubleshooting, communication, presentation, and engaging with executives.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Knowledge of Commvault, Veeam, Cohesity DataProtect, Dell EMC Data Domain, and DD Boost.
• Experience with HPE StoreOnce/Catalyst, ExaGrid, Pure Storage, NetApp, or other enterprise backup targets is highly advantageous.
• Familiarity with VMware, Microsoft Hyper-V, Kubernetes, Windows and Linux file systems, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle RMAN, SAP, NAS, and cloud-native workloads.
