Premium Audit Consultant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut, +18 more states.

📋 Description

• Carry out premium audits, focusing primarily on Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky, which may include remote/hybrid audits as well as on-site audits at customers’ locations when necessary.

• Define classifications, premium bases, and premium exposures in accordance with company policy, ISO, NCCI, and the regulations set forth by Independent Bureaus.

• Conduct audits on highly complex accounts, confirming policy classifications, exposure bases, subcontractor statuses, and cost allocations.

• Engage with insured parties regarding their operations and business models to evaluate associated risks.

• Assess employee job classifications based on their roles, responsibilities, and potential hazard exposures.

• Gather and evaluate operations and accounting records while visually inspecting insured businesses.

• Relay audit results and the financial situations of insured parties to agents and branch underwriting teams.

• Notify investigations and underwriting teams of questionable operations and suspected fraudulent activities.

• Prioritize tasks related to policy reviews and audit assignments.

• Mentor and guide less experienced audit personnel.

• Oversee the accuracy of policy classifications and the development of premium bases.

• Stay updated on trends within specialty areas and the insurance industry.

• May assist in operational audits as needed.

• Report to a Manager or higher-level position.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's Degree, preferably in accounting or finance, or an equivalent qualification.

• Generally, a minimum of five years of relevant work experience is expected.

• Experience with ISO, NCCI, and Independent Bureau States, including the California WCIRB, is mandatory.

• Strong understanding of corporate auditing practices, procedures, and principles.

• In-depth knowledge of the insurance industry along with organizational and departmental functions and operations.

• Comprehensive knowledge of statutory and other intricate accounting principles, practices, and procedures.

• Proficient in General Liability, Workers Compensation, and Business Auto Liability functions and procedures, inclusive of state and regulatory guidelines.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, accounting systems and applications, and other business-related software.

• Exceptional project management, organizational, and planning skills.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and verbal and written communication skills.

• Willingness and ability to travel as necessary.

• PAAS Certification is an advantage.

• An advanced degree or professional designations are preferred.
