This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead and create conceptual designs for utility-scale PV and BESS systems, including site layouts using PVcase and single-line diagrams.
• Assess client data rooms, RFP requirements, and site limitations to define design criteria and identify potential risks, assumptions, and opportunities for optimization.
• Analyze and refine design scenarios to enhance cost, schedule, energy output, and constructability.
• Generate material takeoffs, equipment selections, and technical inputs for EPC estimates.
• Collaborate with civil, structural, electrical, procurement, construction, estimating, detailed engineering, and field operations teams.
• Interact with OEMs, subcontractors, and vendors for technical assessments and pricing.
• Create Basis of Design documentation for transfer to detailed engineering.
• Convey design intent, trade-offs, risks, opportunities, and value engineering suggestions to stakeholders, clients, and external partners.
• Keep updated on industry trends, technologies, codes, and best practices.
• Report directly to the Director of Preconstruction Design.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Architecture, or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Over 3 years of experience in solar EPC, development, or engineering firm settings.
• At least 2 years of direct experience in the planning, design, and engineering of utility-scale PV and/or BESS systems.
• Familiarity with interconnection, site constraints, and permitting considerations.
• Knowledge of construction methods and cost factors in utility-scale solar.
• Strong commercial awareness with the ability to balance technical and financial aspects.
• High proficiency in AutoCAD or similar CAD design software.
• Practical experience in PV and BESS system design and layout development using PVcase.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Capable of managing multiple bids and deadlines in a dynamic environment.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills along with stakeholder management abilities.
• Preferably experienced with SharePoint, PVcase, Pvsyst, and Procore.
• Candidates with civil, structural, or electrical engineering backgrounds and utility-scale PV experience are encouraged to apply.
• Must adhere to interview policy prohibiting AI note-takers, recording devices, and real-time transcription software.
