Preconstruction Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead and create conceptual designs for utility-scale PV and BESS systems, including site layouts using PVcase and single-line diagrams.

• Review client datarooms, RFP specifications, and site limitations to establish actionable design criteria.

• Identify critical risks, assumptions, and optimization possibilities during the pursuit phase.

• Assess and refine design scenarios to enhance cost, schedule, energy yield, and constructability.

• Prepare material takeoffs, select equipment, and provide technical inputs for EPC estimates.

• Collaborate with civil, structural, and electrical teams, as well as procurement and construction departments.

• Engage with OEMs, subcontractors, and vendors for technical assessments and pricing.

• Create Basis of Design documentation for transition to detailed engineering.

• Convey design intent, trade-offs, risks, opportunities, and value engineering suggestions to stakeholders, clients, and external partners.

• Remain updated on industry trends, technologies, codes, and best practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, or a related field from an accredited institution.

• Over 3 years of experience in solar EPC, development, or engineering firms.

• At least 2 years of direct experience in the planning, design, and engineering of utility-scale PV and/or BESS systems.

• Familiarity with interconnection processes, site limitations, and permitting issues.

• Understanding of construction methods and cost factors in utility-scale solar projects.

• Strong commercial insight with the ability to balance technical and financial considerations.

• High proficiency in AutoCAD or similar CAD design software.

• Practical experience with PV and BESS system design and layout development using PVcase.

• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

• Experience with SharePoint, PVcase, Pvsyst, and Procore is preferred.

• Strong technical problem-solving skills and systems thinking ability.

• Capability to manage multiple proposals and deadlines in a dynamic environment.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with stakeholder management capabilities.

• Collaborative mindset with cross-functional teams.
