This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop and implement regulatory and legislative engagement strategies for the central and eastern United States, with a focus on Midwest markets.
• Identify and prioritize advocacy opportunities related to grid modernization, integrated resource planning, demand-side management, transportation electrification, energy storage, rate cases, legislation, and grant programs.
• Conduct research on regulatory developments and explore methods to influence policy, rulemaking, and ratemaking processes.
• Participate in integrated resource planning, virtual power plant potential studies, and distribution system planning cycles.
• Educate regulators and advocate for software and Distributed Energy Resource Management Systems (DERMS) within demand flexibility programs and rates.
• Engage with state and local officials to promote policy objectives and strengthen relationships with regulatory bodies.
• Represent EnergyHub as a thought leader in the design of electric vehicle programs and managed charging solutions.
• Act as a thought leader for EnergyHub in grid modernization and demand flexibility program design.
• Gather best practices from battery storage and demand response programs.
• Monitor national and state-level regulatory trends, providing briefings to senior leadership and internal stakeholders.
• Collaborate with trade associations, allies, and stakeholders to build consensus and create advocacy campaigns and public relations strategies.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives assessing new business models or program concepts.
• Investigate regulatory topics such as performance-based ratemaking, software capitalization, technical resource manuals, and measurement & verification protocols.
• Cultivate relationships with trade associations and represent EnergyHub at industry conferences.
• Develop thought leadership content, including blog posts and white papers, in collaboration with Product Marketing.
• Report to the Director of Regulatory Affairs and work collaboratively across the organization.
• Undertake additional duties as assigned.
• Bachelor's degree with 5–10 years of professional experience, including a minimum of 3 years in the energy sector.
• Knowledge of the electricity industry and utility business models.
• An understanding of key industry trends and the stakeholder landscape.
• Experience with federal, statewide, and utility-led Distributed Energy Resource, demand-side management, or grid modernization initiatives.
• Basic knowledge of distribution system management.
• Proficient in drafting and editing regulatory comments, media releases, blogs, and customer-facing marketing and sales materials.
• Demonstrated expertise in detailed energy policy analysis and regulatory writing.
• Excellent judgment and emotional intelligence.
• Skilled in resolving contentious issues and building consensus among differing viewpoints.
• Proficient in using Excel, Salesforce, Tableau, or similar software tools for data analysis and visualization.
• Able to utilize webinars and social media for thought leadership and policy insights.
• Unable to sponsor new applicants for employment authorization or immigration-related support.
• Preferred: 7+ years of experience in the energy and utilities sector.
• Preferred: Experience working with or closely with a state public utility commission, state legislature, or relevant regulatory body.
• Preferred: Familiarity with energy efficiency and demand-side management technologies and regulations.
• Preferred: Understanding of utility programs and/or regulatory concepts.
• Preferred: In-depth knowledge of how utilities serve their customers.
• Preferred: Experience participating in utility stakeholder proceedings or working groups.
• Preferred: Experience researching and analyzing market impacts of new policies, regulations, and program implementation rules.
