Platform Engineer – Compute

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.

📋 Description

• Develop and sustain the Supabase Cloud platform.

• Create and implement systems for provisioning, scaling, and managing multi-region compute workloads.

• Take ownership of the complete lifecycle of compute orchestration, which includes project creation, warm pools, autoscaling, resizing, and resource optimization.

• Enhance automation and visibility throughout the compute stack.

• Refine system architecture to lower costs while ensuring security, reliability, and performance are balanced.

• Work collaboratively across teams to utilize compute as a fundamental platform offering.

• Engage in on-call rotations, incident response, and post-incident analysis.

• Address escalated support issues and identify as well as resolve systemic platform challenges.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient software engineering skills; experience in Go and TypeScript is essential.

• Proven experience in building and managing cloud infrastructure or distributed systems at scale.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience with cloud infrastructure; AWS experience is mandatory.

• Familiarity with compute, networking, and storage services.

• At least 3 years of experience in developing custom Kubernetes controllers.

• Experience managing large-scale clusters comprising tens to hundreds of thousands of pods.

• Understanding of networking and multi-region infrastructure design.

• Knowledge of Postgres is beneficial.

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools; Pulumi is highly preferred, while Terraform/CDK is acceptable.

• Background in QEMU, KVM, and NAS is advantageous.

• Experience in participating in on-call rotations for large production systems.
