Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Design, configure, and manage platform infrastructure within Microsoft Azure utilizing Infrastructure as Code methodologies and Terraform.

• Assist in the operation and ongoing enhancement of the Azure Databricks platform, which encompasses configuration, automation, monitoring, access control, and issue resolution.

• Manage and optimize the Azure Kubernetes-based platform for the Data & AI department.

• Facilitate the deployment, management, and scaling of services employing GitOps and CI/CD methodologies.

• Execute platform modifications and introduce new functionalities in alignment with architectural patterns, security protocols, and engineering standards.

• Aid in creating reusable automation and self-service capabilities for engineering, Data, and AI teams.

• Oversee platform performance, investigate operational challenges, and address standard support inquiries.

• Refer complex issues to higher-level support when necessary.

• Collaborate with colleagues across Platform, Data, AI, MLOps, and Security teams.

• Engage in technical discussions, contribute to documentation, and drive platform enhancements.

• Take part in architecture and design conversations and implement agreed-upon solutions.

• Continuously enhance knowledge of cloud-native technologies and Data & AI platform innovations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Practical experience with Microsoft Azure and fundamental cloud concepts such as compute, networking, storage, identity, and security.

• Hands-on experience with containers and Kubernetes.

• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code, particularly using Terraform.

• Familiarity with Helm is a plus.

• Experience in creating or managing deployment pipelines.

• Proficient in Git-based development and delivery processes.

• Understanding of logging, monitoring, and troubleshooting in production or platform environments.

• Ability to independently resolve common operational challenges.

• Experience with Python, Go, or Shell for infrastructure automation and platform tooling.

• Acquaintance with Azure Databricks or comparable Data & AI platforms, or a strong desire to develop expertise in this area.

• Basic understanding of Data, Machine Learning, or AI workloads.

• Capability to take initiative, manage tasks independently, communicate progress and obstacles, and seek advice on unfamiliar or complex subjects.

• Comfortable working alongside engineers and stakeholders, clearly articulating technical subjects.

• Enthusiasm for continuous improvement of technical skills and contributions to documentation, knowledge sharing, and engineering practices.

• Proficiency in English.

• German language skills are advantageous.
