This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design and implement strategies for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship in 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) fundraising.
• Oversee a portfolio consisting of around 100 high-net-worth individuals located in the Western or Eastern United States.
• Secure five- to six-figure donations and create customized annual engagement strategies for donors.
• Qualify, cultivate, and successfully close major gifts in preparation for an upcoming capital campaign.
• Broaden the donor base and obtain significant multi-year commitments.
• Draft proposals and grant applications aimed at major donors and foundations.
• Collaborate with the Finance team to develop budgets for proposals and prepare grant reports.
• Identify, nurture, and establish new philanthropic relationships.
• Build connections within key donor communities, such as Effective Altruism networks.
• Create donor recommendations regarding legacy giving, foundation partnerships, and Donor Advised Funds.
• Establish and maintain trust-based relationships with donors throughout their lifecycle.
• Deliver personalized proposals, impact reports, and donor communications in coordination with Programs staff and senior leadership.
• Ensure accurate maintenance of donor database records.
• Organize and execute donor cultivation and fundraising events, which may include in-person, conference, virtual, small-scale, and peer-to-peer formats.
• Collaborate with the Donor Care team to engage donor volunteers effectively.
• Work alongside the CEO and senior leadership on strategies for high-level donor engagement.
• Prepare briefings, messaging, and solicitation plans focused on securing six- to seven-figure gifts.
• Provide coaching to Programs staff and organizational leaders on donor communication and representation.
• Advocate for THL’s mission, strategy, and impact to donors and external audiences.
• Work with Development colleagues to identify, qualify, and enhance major-giving prospects.
• Mentor and support the Philanthropy team while contributing to process improvements.
• Promote a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
• Travel domestically and internationally at least four times a year, with occasional work during nights and weekends.
• Report directly to the Sr. Director of Global Philanthropy.
• More than 5 years of proven experience in fundraising, philanthropy, or donor relations for organizations with revenues of $5M or more.
• A minimum of 1–2 years’ experience in major gifts fundraising.
• Demonstrated success in cultivating, soliciting, and securing five- to seven-figure contributions.
• Experience in managing high-value donor portfolios.
• Outstanding interpersonal and relationship-management abilities.
• Skill in developing and executing tailored fundraising strategies.
• Proficient in writing proposals, grant applications, and grant reports.
• Highly effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to convert complex programs and priorities into clear, engaging materials for donors.
• Competence in collaborating across functions and levels, mentoring team members, and supporting senior leadership.
• Experience in identifying, qualifying, and advancing prospects through the donor pipeline.
• Capacity to navigate complex challenges, propose innovative solutions, and adapt strategies accordingly.
• Data-informed judgment and discretion in handling sensitive donor and organizational information.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to develop and interpret budgets and financial data.
• Adherence to cash-handling best practices and confidentiality requirements.
• Capability to operate effectively within a global organization while being culturally aware.
• Authorization to work in the United States and perform the role from within the U.S. or a U.S. Territory.
