Pharmacist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Missouri.

📋 Description

• Review and clinically assess new and refill prescriptions for therapeutic suitability, potential drug-drug interactions, contraindications, and dosing precision.

• Confirm the accuracy of prescription data entry performed by pharmacy technicians.

• Ensure the correctness of filled prescriptions in a closed-door fulfillment setting prior to shipment.

• Conduct daily prospective drug utilization reviews and address clinical flags.

• Oversee specialty medication handling protocols, including cold-chain verification.

• Conduct outbound patient counseling calls that provide drug education, side effects, dosing instructions, storage guidelines, and adherence support.

• Manage incoming clinical patient inquiries and refer non-clinical questions to the patient support team.

• Record patient interactions in the pharmacy management system.

• Offer bilingual counseling to Spanish-speaking patients when applicable.

• Reach out to prescriber offices to clarify incomplete, ambiguous, or unsuitable prescriptions.

• Work collaboratively with prescribers on therapeutic substitutions, DAW overrides, and formulary alternatives.

• Supervise pharmacy technicians in areas such as data entry, processing, packaging, and fulfillment workflows.

• Conduct real-time quality assessments and provide constructive feedback.

• Highlight technician performance trends and engage in coaching and training efforts.

• Ensure adherence to HIPAA regulations, state pharmacy practice laws, federal DEA guidelines, and company protocols.

• Oversee the handling, documentation, and destruction of records and materials containing PHI.

• Participate in audits, prescription error monitoring, and near-miss reporting.

• Report adverse drug events and medication errors through pharmacovigilance channels.

• Ensure compliance with storage requirements for temperature-sensitive medications.

• Collaborate with pharmacy leadership, patient services, clinical teams, compliance, and technology departments.

• Coordinate with shipping and fulfillment teams to address packaging issues, return-to-sender situations, and delivery failures.

• Provide clinical insights regarding technology enhancements, workflow tools, and software configurations.

• Engage in team huddles, quality reviews, and departmental meetings.

• Accurately process prescription verification queues in a timely manner while maintaining clinical quality.

• Support informed and confident patient therapy through effective counseling.

• Minimize dispensing delays through proactive communication with prescribers.

• Maintain compliance and quality standards in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

⛳️ Requirements

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy.

• Active Missouri Pharmacy License in good standing with the Missouri Board of Pharmacy.

• Excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal.

• Proven ability to perform high-volume prescription verifications with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.

• Strong technical skills and the capability to learn pharmacy management systems, verification platforms, and internal workflow tools.

• Bilingual Spanish is preferred for phone-based patient counseling.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in a mail order, specialty, retail, or closed-door fulfillment pharmacy is preferred.

• Active pharmacy licensure is required in the home state.

• Must obtain licensure in three additional states from the specified list within the first 9 months of employment.

• Familiarity with pharmacovigilance or protocols for reporting adverse drug events is preferred.

• Availability for rotating shifts Monday through Friday between 7:30 am - 9:00 pm ET and rotating Saturdays from 7:00 am - 5:00 pm ET.
