This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.
• Evaluate and enhance the performance of CPU clusters, focusing on cache hierarchies, interconnects, coherence, and memory access patterns.
• Develop and utilize performance models and simulation frameworks like Gem5 or similar tools.
• Analyze real-world workloads to pinpoint bottlenecks related to cache misses, coherence traffic, memory bandwidth, latency, contention, and core-to-core communication.
• Lead studies on architectural trade-offs balancing performance, scalability, bandwidth, latency, power consumption, and implementation complexity.
• Work collaboratively with architects specializing in CPU, cache, interconnect, memory, software, compilers, RTL, and system design.
• Convert performance analyses into specific architectural and design recommendations.
• Design, model, and optimize multi-core CPU clusters from initial performance exploration to implementation and silicon.
• Solid understanding of CPU microarchitecture and performance principles.
• Comprehension of the interactions between cores, caches, interconnects, and memory systems.
• Experience or proficiency in modeling, simulation, and workload analysis techniques.
• Capability to identify cluster-level performance bottlenecks and scaling issues.
• Familiarity with latency, bandwidth, quality of service, utilization, and scalability concepts.
• Ability to translate performance data into architectural suggestions.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across different functional teams.
• Knowledge of cache hierarchies, interconnects, coherence, and memory access dynamics.
• Experience with performance models and simulation environments such as Gem5 or equivalent.
• Understanding of cache misses, coherence traffic, memory bandwidth, latency, contention, and core-to-core interactions.
• Eligibility for accessing U.S. export-controlled technology; employment may depend on citizenship/permanent residency status or obtaining prior license approval.
• Highly competitive compensation package along with comprehensive benefits.
