Patient Safety Companion

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Assist in overseeing patients to identify safety risks and prevent harm

• Maintain patient safety by ensuring a secure environment

• Conduct direct observations of designated patients throughout the assigned shift

• Facilitate activities aimed at patient entertainment and therapeutic purposes

• Eliminate potentially hazardous items from patient rooms and surrounding areas

• Execute patient safety protocols effectively

• Support patients with daily activities, meal choices, tray preparation, and phone communications

• Inform nursing staff for assistance with clinical procedures

• Collaborate with relevant hospital personnel to coordinate care

• Document intake and output, patient observations, behaviors, and any changes in behavior to the designated RN

• Record the execution and verification of safety protocols on flow sheets

• Ensure adherence to safety protocols in accordance with established policies

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED (Required)

• Completion of Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Training within 3 months

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days from the American Heart Association (AHA)

• Capability to observe designated patients continuously during the assigned shift

• Proficiency in implementing patient safety protocols addressing elopement risk, suicide risk, self-harm potential, fall risk, and aggression risk

• Ability to uphold patient privacy and confidentiality

• Skill in coordinating care with hospital staff and consulting with nursing staff, security, and other personnel as necessary
