This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Perform thorough visual assessments and, when necessary, destructive evaluations of fire door installations, frames, and related hardware.
• Confirm the labeling and certification of fire door sets and assemblies.
• Inspect for any visible damage, wear, or alterations that could affect the performance of the fire doors.
• Test the operation of fire doors, including their opening, closing, and latching mechanisms.
• Ensure the functionality of self-closing devices and other associated hardware.
• Confirm that fire doors comply with current fire and building code standards.
• Assess the installation of fire doors and their compatibility with the supporting wall structures.
• Evaluate the suitability and performance of door components such as hinges, locks, letterplates, spy holes, glazing, intumescent strips, smoke seals, drop-down seals, and self-closers.
• Create detailed inspection reports that document findings, non-compliance issues, and suggested corrective measures.
• Keep accurate records of all inspections conducted.
• Stay informed about fire safety legislation and standards.
• Develop relationships with clients and stakeholders to enhance awareness of fire door safety.
• Comply with safety protocols and regulations during the inspection process.
• Advocate for fire safety awareness and best practices among clients.
• In-depth knowledge of fire door regulations and fire safety standards.
• Strong attention to detail and a systematic approach to inspections and reporting.
• Effective communication skills with the ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
• Dedication to continuous learning and staying updated with legislation and best practices.
• Capability to work independently while managing time efficiently.
• Proficient report writing and record-keeping abilities.
• Proactive mindset towards health and safety and compliance promotion.
• Ideally, previous experience in a similar position.
• Competence in conducting visual and destructive examinations of fire door installations, frames, and related hardware.
