Packet Core Deployment Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Oversee the comprehensive deployment, integration, configuration, and upgrades of Packet Core Network elements in both 4G and 5G settings.

• Implement Packet Core nodes utilizing Bare Metal, VNF, and CNF architectures within telecom cloud infrastructures.

• Develop Packet Core solutions tailored to customer specifications and HLD/DLD guidelines.

• Install, configure, integrate, and upgrade essential core network components such as SMF, UPF, PGW, and SGW.

• Assist with the deployment of components for 4G EPC and 5G SA/NSA networks.

• Engage with OpenStack, VMware, OpenShift, Docker, and containerized environments.

• Validate system operations, conduct interoperability testing, and integrate multi-vendor network setups.

• Diagnose network and deployment challenges using tools like Wireshark, system logs, packet captures, and protocol-level debugging.

• Analyze and rectify 4G/5G call-flow problems involving VoLTE, VoWiFi, and IoT applications.

• Carry out upgrades, patches, migrations, and configuration modifications while minimizing service interruptions.

• Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and enhance configurations for improved availability, scalability, and reliability.

• Collaborate with onsite and offshore engineering teams, customer stakeholders, and cross-functional groups.

• Create deployment documentation, configuration records, test reports, troubleshooting guides, and operational protocols.

• Provide technical assistance during deployment, integration, acceptance testing, and post-deployment processes.

• Engage in technical discussions, knowledge sharing, customer presentations, and initiatives for continuous improvement.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5–10 years of experience in telecom network engineering, Packet Core deployment, or similar roles within telecommunications infrastructure.

• A minimum of 2 years of practical experience in implementing, deploying, integrating, or upgrading Packet Core solutions.

• Strong end-to-end knowledge of Packet Core architecture and solution implementation.

• Extensive understanding of 4G and 5G call flows, network interfaces, protocols, and core network elements.

• Experience in deploying Packet Core nodes on Bare Metal infrastructure, VNFs, and CNFs.

• Practical experience in installing, configuring, integrating, upgrading, and troubleshooting Packet Core nodes.

• Familiarity with SMF, UPF, PGW, and SGW and their functions within 4G/5G networks.

• Knowledge of telecom cloud environments and the deployment of EPC and Packet Core solutions on cloud infrastructures.

• Competence in Linux, VMware, Docker, containers, OpenStack, and OpenShift.

• Proficient in network troubleshooting utilizing Wireshark, packet captures, system logs, and protocol analysis.

• Ability to carry out network deployment tasks according to HLD and DLD specifications.

• Familiarity with VoLTE, VoWiFi, and IoT applications.
