DevOps / SRE Test Bench Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Create realistic, multi-service failure scenarios that necessitate thorough investigation, root-cause analysis, and recovery processes.

• Establish and configure testing environments utilizing Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, databases, message queues, and service dependencies.

• Construct faulty infrastructure setups that mimic genuine production incidents and operational challenges.

• Produce comprehensive reference solutions, troubleshooting documentation, and dependable automated verifiers with well-defined success criteria.

• Ensure the quality of tasks by validating that scenarios are equitable, technically sound, reproducible, and cannot be resolved through a fixed runbook.

• Diagnose intricate issues related to networking, storage, permissions, service configurations, replication, and system recovery.

• Create setup scripts, automation tools, and verification tests using Python or Bash.

• Diligently record working hours, report on progress, and engage actively in the project’s WhatsApp community.

• Uphold confidentiality regarding all project-related tasks, environments, and technical documentation.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 2+ years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), platform engineering, infrastructure engineering, or a similar technical position.

• Proficient in Linux administration and command-line operations, including SSH, shell scripting, process management, log analysis, file permissions, networking, and system services.

• Extensive hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes, including troubleshooting container failures, deployment issues, service connectivity problems, and orchestration challenges.

• Familiarity with databases and infrastructure components such as PostgreSQL, Redis, message queues, storage systems, replication, and recovery strategies.

• Demonstrated capability to troubleshoot environments that simulate production scenarios with multiple interdependent services.

• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and cloud infrastructure.

• Ability to independently investigate ambiguous failures, determine root causes, and implement effective solutions without reliance on predefined runbooks.

• Possess a strong testing mindset, including experience in designing automated checks, validation scripts, and deterministic verifiers.

• Proficient in Python or Bash for environment setup, automation, and test development.

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Microsoft Azure is a plus.

• Familiarity with Nginx, systemd, Logical Volume Manager (LVM), and Linux security hardening is advantageous.

• Understanding of distributed systems, service dependencies, and fault recovery is beneficial.

• Experience working with AI coding agents or AI-assisted software engineering tools is a plus.

• Must ensure accurate logging of working hours, effective communication of progress, and participation in the project’s WhatsApp community.
