This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Conduct inspections, estimates, negotiations, and evaluations of both first- and third-party auto physical damage claims.
• Evaluate claims involving collision, comprehensive, property damage, rental, towing, fire, theft, flood, lightning, diminished value, and injury-related incidents.
• Ensure consistent service quality throughout the entire lifecycle of the claim.
• Oversee assignments and travel to locations of vehicles and equipment.
• Scope claims and ascertain physical claim values utilizing technical expertise, company resources, and estimating and evaluation software.
• Prepare and document appraisals for vehicle/equipment damage along with Actual Cash and Replacement values.
• Collaborate with assigned Claim Professionals from the initial investigation to the final recovery process.
• Negotiate claims with customers and repair facilities to establish settlement values and necessary payments.
• Determine settlement amounts for total-loss claims as applicable.
• Communicate claim settlements within the authority and initiate payments accordingly.
• Provide inspection support across various lines of business, including responses to catastrophes.
• Review coverage while applying policy conditions, provisions, exclusions, and endorsements.
• Oversee the repair process and maintain reserves for claims and expenses.
• Develop and update action plans and diaries to ensure timely resolution of repairs.
• Communicate damage assessments after negotiations and secure payment authorization.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• High School Diploma or GED, with at least one year of auto appraisal experience.
• A valid Driver's License is required.
• An Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree, or Technical School Degree is preferred.
• State appraiser and claim handling licenses where applicable.
• A minimum of two years of auto appraisal experience is preferred, particularly with an insurance carrier.
• A strong technical background and comprehensive knowledge of auto repair, repair techniques, automotive terminology, and construction.
• In-depth knowledge of claims appraisal systems and overall operations of claims.
• Proficiency in Windows, including Excel and Word.
• Willingness to participate in Auto Catastrophe response, which may involve extended deployment and unscheduled travel with little notice.
• Excellent mathematical and negotiation skills are essential.
• Capability to stay updated on jurisdictional laws and regulations.
• Commitment to ongoing education is expected.
• Insurance license(s) may be necessary and typically must be acquired within three months of starting the position, along with ongoing continuing education credits.
• Must be able to travel promptly to vehicle/equipment locations and participate in catastrophe deployments for a minimum of 16 days, including 2 travel days.
