Outpatient SDS Coder

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Precisely abstract data into client electronic medical record systems.

• Assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS codes, and modifiers to facility-based Ancillary, Emergency Department, Observation, and/or Outpatient Surgery accounts.

• Abstract and input coded data and/or charges for hospital statistical and reporting purposes.

• Query physicians to clarify any conflicting, vague, incomplete, ambiguous, or inconsistent clinical information.

• Communicate opportunities for documentation improvement and coding issues to the appropriate personnel.

• Collaborate with Clinical Documentation Improvement and/or Revenue Cycle teams for account follow-up and reconciliation.

• Adhere to required productivity and quality standards.

• Maintain coding credential requirements.

• Execute data entry of required abstracted patient information into client information systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• Valid AHIMA or AAPC coding credential.

• At least 3 years of coding experience.

• Trauma Level 1 experience is mandatory.

• Experience in an Academic Teaching facility is required.

• Familiarity with Official ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Guidelines for Coding.

• Understanding of AMA CPT Guidelines.

• Knowledge of CMS directives.

• Ability to maintain a coding accuracy rate of 95% or higher.

• Capability to meet productivity standards.

• Excellent collaboration, analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.

• Self-motivated and able to work independently.
