This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Evaluate medical records and accurately assign diagnosis and procedure codes.
• Code assignments and sequencing must reflect the documentation found in medical records.
• Determine the appropriate discharge disposition.
• Extract and input coded data to fulfill hospital statistical and reporting obligations.
• Identify and relay opportunities for documentation improvement and coding discrepancies for resolution.
• Maintain a coding accuracy rate of 95% and ensure 95% APC assignment accuracy.
• Achieve productivity standards as designated by the site.
• Keep track of continuing education credits to uphold professional certifications.
• Participate in education meetings and in-services sponsored by Datavant Health.
• Demonstrate initiative and sound judgment in fulfilling job duties.
• Engage in communication with colleagues, management, and hospital personnel concerning clinical and reimbursement matters.
• Manage high-complexity functions and decision-making responsibilities.
• Adhere to AHIMA’s ethical guidelines and all policies set by the HIM Division.
• Possession of AHIMA certified credentials: RHIA, RHIT, or CCS; or AAPC certified credentials: CPC, CPC-H, COC, CIC, or CRC.
• Required experience in Interventional Radiology.
• A minimum of 2 years of coding experience in a hospital setting and/or coding consulting role.
• Proficient in most or all areas including Same Day Surgery, Observation, and Injections/Infusions.
• Proficient in most or all aspects of Ancillary, Emergency Department, Injections/Infusions, and E/M leveling.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
• Ability to work remotely with excellent time management skills.
• Experience with computerized encoding and abstracting software is necessary.
• Must successfully complete the annual Introductory HIPAA examination and any other assigned annual assessments.
• Not eligible for employment sponsorship.
• Potential post-offer health screenings and proof and/or completion of vaccinations may be required based on client needs.
• Holding a CIRCC or RCCIR credential is advantageous.
