Organ Recovery Specialist – Transplant Center

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.

📋 Description

• Oversee the organ transplant process from the initial organ offer to the transplant procedure.

• Receive and evaluate organ offers from the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) Contractor.

• Assist the team with primary organ offers.

• Provide ongoing on-call support to the transplant center for organ procurement activities.

• Gather and document potential donor organ information while coordinating with the host Organ Procurement Organization (OPO).

• Engage with attending physicians, fellows, and the on-call Pre-Transplant Coordinator.

• Manage logistics for recipient operating room arrangements in collaboration with the OR, Control desk, surgeons, fellows, and other personnel.

• Support 2–3 Organ Recovery Specialists with mobilizing and arranging transportation for the procurement team.

• Coordinate activities related to donor operations, including travel and perfusion of deceased donor organs.

• Communicate effectively with all team members to ensure a seamless recipient operation.

• Execute additional responsibilities as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Final candidates are required to successfully pass a background check.

• A drug screening or physical examination may be necessary during the post-offer phase.

• Capability to receive and evaluate organ offers from the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) Contractor.

• Ability to provide ongoing on-call support for organ procurement.

• Proficient in communicating with Organ Procurement Organizations (OPOs), attending physicians, fellows, pre-transplant coordinators, operating room staff, surgeons, and other transplant team members.

• Competent in coordinating organ procurement, donor operations, transportation, travel, and perfusion of recovered organs.

• Willingness to work varying shifts.
