This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Provide leadership, strategic guidance, and operational excellence to a regional team of Medical Science Liaisons.
• Collaborate with Medical Directors, brand teams, clinical partners, and cross-functional stakeholders to create and execute regional field medical strategies.
• Convert enterprise and brand objectives into actionable plans for the MSL team.
• Establish and monitor KPIs to assess MSL impact and execution.
• Maintain expertise in the therapeutic area, Biogen products, competitive landscape, regulatory requirements, and treatment guidelines.
• Prioritize and adjust field activities in response to scientific, regulatory, or market developments.
• Lead weekly reviews of field metrics and KPI dashboards for performance management and data-driven coaching.
• Manage, coach, and develop MSLs through territory coaching and semi-annual territory evaluations.
• Ensure MSLs have a clear understanding of medical strategy, engagement plans, KPIs, and expectations.
• Ensure compliant, high-quality Voice of KOL insights and oversee field tools and systems, such as Veeva and OLA.
• Promote the adoption of approved tools, processes, and best practices.
• Communicate medical insights to internal stakeholders.
• Act as the primary regional field medical liaison among Medical, MDO, and cross-functional partners.
• Convey the value of medical strategy to leadership and stakeholders.
• Lead, educate, and mentor internal stakeholders on therapeutic insights and strategic trade-offs.
• Share best practices and lessons learned across therapeutic areas.
• A minimum of 7 years of Medical Affairs experience, including MSL experience (required).
• An advanced scientific or clinical degree is required; a doctoral level is preferred (e.g., MD, PhD, PharmD, DNP).
• Proven leadership and management capabilities within effective Medical Affairs teams.
• Exceptional communication and formal presentation skills.
• Strong organizational abilities with the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Willingness to travel 60% of the time, including overnight stays and occasional weekend trips.
• A valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
• Authorization and capability to operate a company-leased vehicle or rental.
• Clinical experience and expertise in ophthalmology is preferred.
• Over 2 years of experience managing a team of field-based Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology industry employees is preferred.
• Experience in navigating an ultra-competitive disease state is preferred.
