This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama.
β’ Design, deploy, upgrade, scale, and maintain production OpenShift clusters across hybrid environments.
β’ Spearhead intricate platform initiatives from technical design and risk evaluation to implementation, validation, documentation, and operational handover.
β’ Automate cluster provisioning, configuration, upgrades, policy enforcement, and operational tasks utilizing infrastructure-as-code, configuration management, GitOps, and CI/CD methodologies.
β’ Identify and resolve complex issues related to Kubernetes, Linux, containers, networking, ingress, DNS, certificates, storage, compute, identity, and application connectivity.
β’ Set up monitoring, alerting, health checks, operational dashboards, capacity planning, and performance enhancements.
β’ Manage incident response and root cause analysis while implementing corrective and preventive measures.
β’ Enhance platform resilience through backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
β’ Implement least-privilege access, RBAC, workload security controls, secrets and certificates management, and platform policies.
β’ Collaborate with teams in cybersecurity, risk management, control, application development, cloud computing, networking, storage, security, support, and vendor management.
β’ Provide secure self-service capabilities, reference configurations, and reusable patterns for application onboarding.
β’ Establish platform standards, reference architectures, operational processes, technical designs, and support documentation.
β’ Mentor engineers and evaluate technical designs, automation processes, documentation, and production modifications.
β’ Present technical alternatives, trade-offs, risks, and recommendations to stakeholders.
β’ Participate in an on-call support rotation.
β’ A combined minimum of 8 years of higher education and/or work experience in systems design, management, and/or architecture.
β’ In-depth understanding of the system development and infrastructure lifecycle, architecture, vendor best practices, IT Service Management, and systems design.
β’ Proven expertise in administering and supporting production OpenShift or Kubernetes environments.
β’ Strong troubleshooting skills in Linux, containers, networking, storage, compute, identity, and distributed application platforms.
β’ Practical experience in automating infrastructure or platform operations through scripting, configuration management, infrastructure as code, GitOps, or CI/CD practices.
β’ Familiarity with Git-based development, peer review processes, testing, and controlled change management practices.
β’ Demonstrated ability to independently lead complex technical projects, assess constraints and risks, and deliver high-quality production implementations with minimal supervision.
β’ Proven success in translating business, security, operational, and technical requirements into sustainable platform solutions.
β’ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
β’ Experience mentoring engineers and reviewing technical designs, automation processes, documentation, or production changes.
