Open-Source Data Collection and Verification Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ukraine.

📋 Description

• Gather, validate, and preserve extensive amounts of open-source information pertaining to the Ukraine conflict.

• Evaluate social media content, messaging platform materials such as Telegram, videos, images, satellite imagery, and various digital data.

• Utilize OSINT verification methods including geolocation, chronolocation, metadata analysis, and source assessment.

• Organize, tag, and catalog open-source information within evidence databases.

• Assist in investigations, legal tasks, reporting, and public-facing mapping initiatives.

• Work collaboratively with investigators, analysts, and CIR’s Data and Technology Team.

• Provide training and mentorship to colleagues and partners regarding open-source evidence gathering, verification, and archiving.

• Maintain ethical, safe, and secure investigative standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in OSINT collection, validation, and archiving.

• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

• Capability to translate technical jargon for non-expert audiences.

• Proficient in producing clear, concise, and timely reports.

• Previous experience in digital evidence management, evaluation, or e-discovery practices (preferred).

• Experience in providing training, knowledge-sharing, or capacity-building, especially in OSINT contexts (preferred).

• Proficiency in speaking and writing English is essential.

• Working proficiency in Ukrainian and/or Russian is a plus (preferred).

• Ability to adhere to organizational policies and safeguarding protocols.

• Skill in risk mitigation and responsible handling of sensitive or graphic materials.
