Open Shift Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Design and implement OpenShift (OCP) clusters in production settings utilizing bare metal, VMWare, and public cloud infrastructures.

• Act as the main OCP subject matter expert, promoting best practices and standards throughout the organization.

• Collaborate closely with networking, operating system, database, and application teams to integrate services and facilitate workloads.

• Oversee cluster lifecycle operations, including patch management, upgrades, and backup/restore strategies to ensure high availability and disaster recovery.

• Facilitate workload migration between on-premises and cloud environments to optimize performance, costs, and capacity.

• Champion infrastructure security and hardening in regulated and large-scale settings.

• Streamline cluster provisioning and maintenance through CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code methodologies.

• Ensure cluster observability and performance through the use of logging, metrics, and alerting tools.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in infrastructure engineering or platform operations.

• More than 3 years of hands-on experience with OpenShift (OCP) platform engineering in production environments.

• Strong proficiency in container orchestration, Kubernetes internals, and tools within the OpenShift ecosystem.

• In-depth understanding of infrastructure architecture across VMWare, bare metal, and various public cloud providers (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).

• Experience with hybrid workload migrations and managing cost/resource trade-offs across different environments.

• Established expertise in backup/restore procedures, disaster recovery, and configurations for high availability.

• Experience in securing and hardening environments using RBAC, SELinux, TLS, logging, and audit trails.

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code tools like Ansible, Terraform, and GitOps.

• OpenShift certifications are preferred but not mandatory.

• Experience in managed services or telecommunications/broadband environments is a plus.

• Knowledge of database and storage integration in containerized workloads is advantageous.

• Exposure to compliance and security standards such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001 is beneficial.
