Nuclear Engineering Consultant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Idaho.

📋 Description

• Conduct engineering analysis and design for sodium-cooled reactor systems.

• Create, implement, and assess thermal hydraulics models and simulations that support the design and analysis of sodium-cooled fast reactors.

• Assist in reactor systems design tasks and evaluate system performance in relation to relevant technical objectives and design criteria.

• Utilize computational fluid dynamics tools and/or reactor system analysis codes to evaluate fluid flow, heat transfer, and overall system behavior.

• Perform safety analyses, transient analyses, and heat transfer assessments for advanced reactor systems.

• Prepare and present technical findings, assumptions, methodologies, and conclusions for design reviews and conceptual design efforts.

• Aid in nuclear licensing activities, technical design assessments, and advanced reactor development initiatives.

• Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary engineering teams, clients, national laboratories, reactor vendors, and advanced reactor developers.

• Travel to Idaho as necessary to support conceptual design efforts and other project obligations.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Master's degree or Ph.D. in engineering or a closely related technical field.

• Proven experience in performing analysis and design for reactor systems.

• Capability to work efficiently in a remote setting and travel to Idaho as project requirements dictate.

• Background in sodium-cooled fast reactor (SFR) design and analysis.

• Proficiency in thermal hydraulics modeling and simulation.

• Experience in reactor systems design and performance assessment.

• Familiarity with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and/or system codes utilized in reactor analysis.

• Experience in safety analysis, transient analysis, and heat transfer evaluations.

• Knowledge of nuclear licensing, design reviews, or advanced reactor development programs.

• US citizenship is mandatory due to government contract and/or clearance stipulations.
