Network Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +15 more states.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain a low latency exchange network environment.

• Configure both enterprise and production network devices using Ansible and Python as necessary.

• Address network alerts and review error logs.

• Manage network incidents, execute remediation, and conduct root cause analysis (RCA).

• Facilitate new customer connection setups.

• Handle customer support tickets, including adding or modifying IP prefixes and troubleshooting connectivity issues.

• Conduct analysis and validation for new products.

• Collaborate with Security and business teams to engineer and deploy secure end-user solutions.

• Partner with Data Center and Circuit providers to enhance exchange infrastructure towards more cost-effective and high-performance options.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with low latency, highly available distributed systems and the necessary network architectures.

• Proficient understanding of layer 2 and layer 3 network protocols, such as IGMP, MLAG, ARP, BGP, NAT, and PIM.

• Knowledge of IP multicast routing protocols, including PIM-SM and PIM-Bidir.

• Experience with various network operating systems like EOS, IOS, and PanOS.

• Familiarity with timing protocols such as NTP and PTP.

• Understanding of different types of optical fibers and transceivers.

• Scripting experience in Python and Ansible is preferred.

• Ability to analyze packet captures using tools like Wireshark and tcpdump.

• Familiarity with Mac and Linux systems is preferred.

• Experience in firewall design and configuration.
