MySQL Database Administrator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and manage highly available and efficient MySQL databases.

• Provide support for production databases across worldwide data centers.

• Set up, monitor, and troubleshoot MySQL replication and clustering.

• Generate database reports and queries for internal stakeholders.

• Conduct performance tuning, backup/recovery, and proactive monitoring activities.

• Resolve complex database issues to ensure system availability.

• Automate database tasks utilizing Python, Shell, or Bash scripting.

• Create documentation for database designs, processes, and operational guidelines.

• Adhere to change management protocols for production environments.

• Collaborate closely with Operations and Development teams to design, develop, and maintain mission-critical, scalable databases.

• Assist in modernization initiatives towards cloud-based database environments.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional experience, with at least 3 years focused on hands-on MySQL administration.

• Familiarity with GCP (preferred) or AWS cloud database technologies.

• Strong grasp of MySQL implementation, performance tuning, and master-master replication.

• Proficient in MySQL administration tools and monitoring performance metrics (IO, CPU, queries).

• Experience in writing SQL queries for reporting and analytics purposes.

• Solid understanding of Linux for database administration tasks.

• Scripting abilities in Python (preferred), Shell, or Bash.

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

• Exceptional communication and teamwork skills.

• Exposure to SQL Server administration is a plus.

• Experience with data warehousing, such as Google BigQuery, is a plus.

• Familiarity with automation tools for database provisioning and monitoring is a plus.
