Mortgage Loan Officer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Originate and sell residential mortgage loans to meet sales targets

• Engage with potential clients identified through referrals from realtors, developers, attorneys, and other sources

• Provide explanations of mortgage products and services, recommending options tailored to client needs

• Assist clients throughout the mortgage application process

• Clarify necessary information and other elements involved in the loan process

• Ensure applications are precise and contain all required information and supporting documents

• Manage client expectations concerning processing times and closing dates

• Generate referrals for mortgage sales opportunities and other products offered by the Company

• Develop strategies to meet sales targets with assistance from sales management

• Input data into the mortgage loan system to ensure accurate representation in the pipeline

• Create necessary files and documentation for underwriting, regulatory, and other purposes

• Submit applications and required information to underwriting

• Underwrite loans using point-of-sale underwriting systems within authorized limits

• Communicate loan decisions and clarify any additional information required

• Prepare materials for processing to address conditions, finalize loan commitments, and ready for closing

• Maintain communication with clients, underwriters, processors, realtors, closing agents, and others throughout the application journey

• Attend closings as necessary

• Stay updated on industry practices, trends, mortgage laws, regulations, products, and services through ongoing training and seminars

• Participate in homebuyer seminars, home shows, broker meetings, and workshops on home financing

• Suggest enhancements to products, programs, and pricing structures

• Assist in ensuring successful TD Bank audits and examinations

• Address complex mortgage requirements

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or relevant progressive work experience in addition to the required experience

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in mortgage origination

• Demonstrated sales capability

• Developing understanding of the mortgage industry, products, lending practices, and regulatory guidelines

• Exceptional sales and negotiation skills

• Self-motivated and capable of organizing activities to meet sales objectives

• Strong time management abilities

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Proficient in PC skills, including the capacity to learn mortgage origination and automated underwriting systems

• Must qualify for employment with a covered financial institution under Regulation Z

• Must be eligible for registration as a registered mortgage loan originator with the NMLS under the SAFE Act

• Satisfactory completion of a criminal background check and credit report check

• Required statements/certifications regarding any administrative, civil, or criminal findings by a government agency or authority

• Occasional domestic travel required

• Ability to perform sedentary work consistently

• Capability to manage multiple tasks continuously

• Ability to operate standard office equipment continuously

• Ability to sit continuously and to stand/walk occasionally

• Ability to lift/carry weights under 25 lbs. occasionally

• Ability to maintain concentration for extended periods
