Mobile Technical Lead – Kotlin MultiPlatform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania.

📋 Description

• Define contracts for repositories, services, facades, DTOs, and bridges between Kotlin, platform-specific code, and the VueJS/TypeScript UI layer.

• Design, implement, and sustain shared Kotlin Multiplatform modules that support POS business functionalities.

• Develop platform-specific code for desktop and Android targets utilizing expect/actual patterns.

• Create offline-capable workflows that include local persistence, caching, synchronization readiness, and explicit failure management.

• Write clean, organized code and engage in code reviews.

• Refactor and enhance existing modules.

• Develop automated tests for domain rules, use cases, repositories, bridge contracts, and coroutine-based workflows.

• Collaborate with frontend engineers, QA, product owners, and architects.

• Share expertise and mentor junior Kotlin developers.

• Adhere to team agreements and processes.

• Provide regular updates regarding progress, trade-offs, and technical decisions.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in Kotlin.

• Experience in architectural decision-making with Kotlin Multiplatform at a platform scale.

• Strong system-level experience with Android.

• Hands-on delivery of KMP to at least two targets, preferably Android and JVM/Desktop.

• Knowledge of KMP-Swift/iOS interoperability, including XCFramework, expect/actual patterns, and Flow bridging.

• Experience in Java-to-Kotlin/KMP migration at a platform scale.

• Proven architectural leadership and vision.

• Experience in designing modular, multi-tenant, or multi-customer product platforms.

• Skills in knowledge transfer and mentoring.

• Strong communication skills with senior stakeholders.

• Solid grasp of Clean Architecture principles.

• Practical experience with Kotlin Coroutines and Flow.

• Familiarity with offline-first or local-first client architecture.

• Understanding of dependency injection patterns, preferably Koin.

• Strong testing discipline using Kotlin Test or equivalent, including test doubles and coroutine testing utilities.

• Experience with integrating REST/OpenAPI-style services.

• Comfortable with Gradle Kotlin DSL, modular builds, and CI-friendly project structures.

• Effective communication abilities for collaborating with frontend developers, QA, and product stakeholders.

• Experience with Compose Multiplatform is a plus.

• Experience with POS/retail embedded systems is a plus.

• Desktop JVM client experience is a plus.

• Familiarity with VueJS 3 and TypeScript is a plus.

• Experience in plugin or extensibility architecture is a plus.

• Performance engineering experience is a plus.

• Experience with POS, retail, payment, promotion, or hardware peripheral integration is a plus.
