This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland, +1 more state.
• Deliver designated course material in a virtual setting.
• Provide personalized instruction, support, and guidance tailored to the unique needs of students.
• Oversee the learning process and track student progress utilizing Stride K12’s learning management system.
• Collaborate with students, parents/learning coaches, and related service personnel.
• Ensure that special education and related services are delivered in accordance with IEP requirements.
• Create compliant IEPs, progress reports, and necessary special education documentation.
• Facilitate and lead collaborative special education meetings, including annual IEP meetings.
• Implement accommodations and modifications using assistive technology, supplemental curriculum, and accessible texts.
• Modify Stride K12 lessons and assessments based on students' IEPs.
• Promote inclusion and support student success within general education classrooms.
• Gather data and work samples to assess progress towards IEP goals.
• Document communication with parents and interventions for students.
• Analyze student data to recommend remediation and enrichment strategies.
• Provide both synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences.
• Maintain the grade book to uphold academic integrity.
• Make decisions regarding student placement and promotion, and inform administrators of performance issues.
• Prepare students for high-stakes standardized assessments.
• Communicate consistently with students, learning coaches, and parents.
• Assist learning coaches/parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual-classroom troubleshooting.
• Occasionally travel for face-to-face professional development, student assessments, and school events.
• Valid Virginia Special Education Teaching Certificate.
• Residency in Virginia is strongly preferred; candidates from Washington, DC, and Maryland may also be considered.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Active state teaching license.
• Capability to pass the required background check.
• Willingness to participate in in-person professional development, assessments, and other school activities.
• Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
• Capacity to work independently, generally exceeding 40 hours per week.
• Capability to maintain a professional home office free from distractions during work hours.
• Skill in interpreting and producing numerical, tabular, and graphical representations of student data.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with fellow teachers.
• Open to regular feedback and coaching from administrators.
• Willingness to embrace change and adapt as necessary.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to quickly learn and adjust to new technologies and teaching platforms.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
