Mid-Level DevOps Engineer – Microsoft

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Design, configure, develop, integrate, test, document, and maintain Microsoft Azure capabilities utilizing Azure, AKS, Bicep, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Entra ID, Key Vault, Monitor, Application Insights, Log Analytics, Defender for Cloud, and container platforms.

• Implement and enhance CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, container platform operations, monitoring, alerting, and secure deployment automation.

• Convert business, mission, security, accessibility, and operational requirements into effective technical solutions.

• Assist in platform architecture, backlog refinement, implementation planning, release readiness, and production transition activities.

• Create reusable patterns, configuration standards, automation, documentation, and support procedures that mitigate delivery and sustainment risks.

• Diagnose intricate issues across platform configuration, code, data, APIs, identity, security, performance, and user experience.

• Collaborate with cybersecurity, privacy, data, infrastructure, QA, and change management teams to ensure alignment with federal operational expectations.

• Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, design decisions, implementation notes, test evidence, and operational runbooks.

• Support Azure cloud platform engineering, AKS operations, infrastructure automation, CI/CD, observability, platform reliability, and AI-enabled delivery practices.

• Engage with government stakeholders, architects, engineers, product owners, cybersecurity, operations, and business users to transform requirements into platform capabilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

• 4+ years of hands-on experience in platform development or integration, preferably in complex enterprise or government settings.

• Practical experience with Microsoft Azure implementation, configuration, development, integration, testing, or operations.

• Experience collaborating with Agile delivery teams and converting stakeholder needs into maintainable technical solutions.

• Extensive hands-on knowledge of Microsoft Azure capabilities, implementation patterns, administration, development, integration, and lifecycle management.

• Ability to design and implement secure, supportable, and upgrade-aware solutions that minimize unnecessary customization and reduce technical debt.

• Proficiency with APIs, identity and access controls, data management, testing, monitoring, troubleshooting, and release coordination.

• Capability to document technical designs, configuration decisions, operational procedures, test results, and risks in clear business and technical language.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across government stakeholders, product owners, engineers, QA, cybersecurity, and operations teams.

• Eligibility to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

• Familiarity with DevSecOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, infrastructure as code, or platform release automation.

• Understanding of federal security and compliance concepts, including NIST controls, FISMA, FedRAMP-authorized services, audit evidence, and least privilege.

• Experience enhancing platform governance, reuse, documentation, observability, and operational readiness.

• Familiarity with Microsoft 365, ServiceNow, Atlassian, Snowflake, data catalog, CRM, or enterprise integration ecosystems.
