Mid-Level Data Scientist – Image Geoprocessing, GIS

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Design and execute machine learning models and statistical methods to address agribusiness challenges.

• Examine geospatial, agronomic, climate, operational, and market data.

• Process satellite imagery, aerial photos, and additional remote sensing data.

• Create models for classification, segmentation, forecasting, pattern recognition, and insight generation.

• Develop and refine geoprocessing algorithms to streamline data analysis and processing.

• Utilize GIS tools to analyze, interpret, and visualize spatial data.

• Integrate data from APIs, databases, files, geospatial platforms, and other external sources.

• Organize data preparation, validation, and enrichment workflows.

• Assist in the creation of indicators, dashboards, thematic maps, and analytical products.

• Assess the quality, performance, and relevance of the models created.

• Document methodologies, assumptions, outcomes, and analytical limitations.

• Compile reports and presentations highlighting key findings and recommendations.

• Collaborate with technology, data, business experts, and client teams.

• Convert business requirements into analytical hypotheses and data-driven solutions.

• Aid in the deployment and ongoing development of models within production settings.

• Employ data science, geoprocessing, and spatial analysis to craft solutions that meet client needs.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Geography, Agronomy, Geoprocessing, or a related discipline.

• Candidates with different educational backgrounds may also be considered if they possess experience relevant to the role's challenges.

• Proven experience in developing machine learning models or performing statistical analyses.

• Proficiency in Python or R for data processing, modeling, and analysis.

• Familiarity with libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, or similar tools.

• Experience with geospatial data, spatial analysis, or geoprocessing techniques.

• Knowledge of tools like QGIS, ArcGIS, or similar platforms.

• Understanding of SQL and relational database concepts.

• Ability to prepare, process, validate, and analyze a variety of datasets.

• Capacity to interpret results and communicate findings effectively.

• Knowledge of model evaluation and validation metrics.

• Strong collaborative skills to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.

• Ability to comprehend business issues and translate them into analytical strategies.
