Mental Health Therapist – 1099

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Perform thorough evaluations of behavioral, emotional, and mental health needs

• Create personalized treatment plans that align with client objectives

• Offer evidence-based individual and family therapy using approaches like CBT and DBT

• Provide care remotely through telehealth

• Monitor client progress and revise treatment plans as necessary

• Ensure precise and timely clinical documentation, which includes progress notes and treatment outcomes

• Collaborate with primary care physicians, psychiatrists, psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners, social workers, case managers, and other healthcare professionals

• Communicate treatment plans, progress updates, and recommendations to clients, families, and stakeholders

• Offer crisis intervention and support to clients in acute distress

• Formulate safety plans and strategies to avert or manage crises

• Educate clients and their families on mental health conditions, available treatment options, and coping strategies

• Maintain a consistent patient load in accordance with contracted hours and the organization’s access requirements

⛳️ Requirements

• Master's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related behavioral health field

• Active independent clinical licensure in Washington, DC, Maryland, or Virginia

• At least 3 years of clinical experience delivering therapy to youth, adults, and individuals facing behavioral health challenges

• Experience treating patients aged 13 and older

• Strong understanding of evidence-based therapeutic modalities and interventions

• Exceptional communication, relationship-building, documentation, and organizational skills

• Experience in providing telehealth services

• Preference for candidates willing to obtain licensure in additional states

• Experience with specialized populations or treatment areas such as trauma, anxiety, depression, substance use disorders, or grief and loss is preferred

• Familiarity with Athena One EHR and electronic health record documentation standards is preferred
