This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +1 more state.
• Act as the main point of contact for patients regarding inquiries about medications, effectively triaging calls, portal messages, and internal requests with compassion and urgency.
• Assist clinicians in overseeing medication therapies, including support for reconciliation and adherence.
• Organize follow-up appointments with clinicians and front office teams to ensure continuity of care.
• Facilitate prior authorizations by collecting necessary documentation, completing required forms, and liaising with payers and pharmacies.
• Monitor and manage clinician inboxes during their absence, addressing routine matters and appropriately escalating urgent issues.
• Identify obstacles to medication access and work collaboratively with clinicians, pharmacies, and insurers to develop solutions.
• Educate patients about refill policies, potential side effects, and adherence to treatment plans.
• Accurately document all interactions using SBAR in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with clinicians, pharmacists, and third-party partners to enhance integrated care delivery.
• Employ de-escalation techniques to assist emotionally distressed patients and support crisis response protocols as necessary.
• Engage in special projects and undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), EMT-B, or Pharmacy Technician.
• At least 1 year of experience in managing prescription refill requests.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong focus on customer service.
• Solid understanding of pharmacology, medication therapies, and insurance authorization processes.
• Familiarity with SBAR documentation and communication standards.
• Proficient in electronic health records (EHR) and healthcare software.
• Strong interpersonal abilities to engage with patients, clinicians, and external partners.
• Capability to de-escalate challenging situations while maintaining a calm and supportive atmosphere.
