This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nicaragua.
• Confirm patient insurance information post check-in and ensure accurate record-keeping.
• Assess denied claims, determine reasons for denial, assist in reprocessing, and monitor follow-up actions.
• Examine and manage Explanation of Benefits documents while clearing any existing EOB backlogs.
• Address unresolved insurance balances and issues related to patient accounts.
• Facilitate workflows for Cigna and Veterans Affairs claims.
• Organize vendor payments, including issuing checks when necessary.
• Oversee the completion, accuracy, and compliance of SOAP notes.
• Keep track of missed and canceled appointments and analyze scheduling patterns.
• Generate operational reports that include insights and actionable recommendations.
• Ensure effective communication between the provider, care team, and administrative personnel.
• Actively identify issues related to workflow, billing, documentation, scheduling, and patient accounts.
• Suggest practical solutions to enhance clinic efficiency.
• At least 1 year of experience as a Medical Virtual Assistant.
• Background in supporting a healthcare practice in the United States.
• Familiarity with insurance verification, EOBs, claims processing, denied claims, patient balances, or billing support.
• Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 codes.
• Excellent English communication skills, both written and oral.
• Strong executive presence and a professional communication style.
• Must be proficient in using Mac OS.
• Exceptional attention to detail and follow-through capabilities.
• Ability to work autonomously with minimal oversight.
• Demonstrated leadership, ownership, or high-accountability experience in a past role.
• Proactive in anticipating needs before being requested.
• Highly detail-oriented with tasks related to billing, documentation, and reporting.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Emotionally intelligent and patient when collaborating with a busy provider.
• Confident, professional, and organized in all forms of communication.
• Capable of taking personal responsibility for assigned tasks.
• Resourceful and self-driven in learning new workflows.
• Trustworthy, reliable, and comfortable managing sensitive information.
