This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Guatemala.
• Verify patient insurance upon check-in, ensuring that information is accurate, updated, and documented.
• Review denied claims to identify reasons for denial, assist with reprocessing, and track follow-ups.
• Evaluate and process Explanation of Benefits (EOB) documents, clearing any backlogs.
• Resolve outstanding insurance balances and address patient account issues.
• Support the claims workflows for Cigna and Veterans Affairs.
• Coordinate vendor payments, including issuing checks when necessary.
• Monitor the completion, accuracy, and compliance of SOAP notes.
• Track missed and canceled appointments while identifying scheduling trends.
• Prepare reports on balances, appointments, EOB backlogs, denied claims, and various operational metrics.
• Facilitate communication among the provider, care team, and administrative staff.
• Identify gaps in workflow, billing issues, documentation delays, scheduling challenges, and patient account problems.
• Propose practical solutions aimed at improving clinic efficiency.
• A minimum of 1 year of experience as a Medical Virtual Assistant.
• Experience in supporting a US healthcare practice.
• Familiarity with insurance verification, EOBs, claims, denied claims, patient balances, or billing support.
• Exposure to CPT and ICD-10 coding.
• Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Professional demeanor and strong executive presence in communication.
• Must be proficient in Mac OS.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to follow-through.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrated leadership, ownership, or accountability in previous roles.
• Proactive with the ability to anticipate needs before being requested.
• Highly detail-oriented in handling billing, documentation, and reporting tasks.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Emotionally intelligent and patient when engaging with a busy provider.
• Confident, professional, and organized in communication.
• Capable of taking personal responsibility for assigned tasks.
• Resourceful and self-motivated when adapting to new workflows.
• Trustworthy, dependable, and comfortable handling sensitive information.
• Performance-based increase after 6 months.
