This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia.
• Confirm patient insurance following check-in and ensure accurate documentation.
• Examine denied claims, determine reasons for denial, assist with reprocessing, and monitor follow-ups.
• Analyze and handle Explanation of Benefits documents while addressing EOB backlogs.
• Resolve outstanding insurance balances and patient account discrepancies.
• Facilitate claims workflows, including those for Cigna and Veterans Affairs.
• Oversee vendor payments, including issuing checks when necessary.
• Track SOAP note completion, accuracy, and adherence to compliance standards.
• Monitor missed appointments, cancellations, and scheduling patterns.
• Generate reports on balances, appointments, EOB backlogs, denied claims, and operational metrics.
• Coordinate communication among the provider, care team, and administrative personnel.
• Identify workflow inefficiencies, billing issues, documentation delays, scheduling challenges, and patient account concerns.
• Suggest practical solutions to enhance clinic efficiency.
• At least 1 year of experience as a Medical Virtual Assistant.
• Background in supporting a US healthcare practice.
• Experience with insurance verification, EOBs, claims, denied claims, patient balances, or billing assistance.
• Familiarity with CPT and ICD-10 coding.
• Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken.
• Strong executive presence and a professional communication style.
• Must be proficient in Mac OS.
• Keen attention to detail and consistent follow-through.
• Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
• Proven leadership, ownership, or high-accountability experience in a prior role.
• Proactive approach with the ability to anticipate needs before they are expressed.
• Highly detail-oriented regarding billing, documentation, and reporting tasks.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Emotionally intelligent and patient when interacting with a busy provider.
• Confident, professional, and organized in communication.
• Capable of taking personal responsibility for assigned tasks.
• Resourceful and self-driven in learning new workflows.
• Trustworthy, reliable, and comfortable managing sensitive information.
• Availability from Monday to Friday, for 6 hours each day.
• Performance-based salary increase after 6 months.
