This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Build and sustain relationships along with scientific credibility with both established and new external experts.
• Address inquiries by delivering essential scientific and medical information to external experts and internal stakeholders.
• Gather and uphold vital scientific knowledge to communicate reliable information to external experts and healthcare professionals.
• Engage in investigator-initiated studies, clinical trials, and relevant medical initiatives while providing follow-up.
• Offer scientific assistance and help maintain connections with external experts and academic institutions.
• Present credible talks on various scientific subjects to healthcare professionals, either individually or in groups.
• Assist in identifying healthcare professionals for AbbVie collaboration projects, including research and support for conferences/meetings.
• Ensure the integrity of scientific or informational content shared during collaborations.
• Attend relevant meetings and conferences, preparing summaries of key data presented.
• Cover the Quebec and Atlantic Canada regions in the field.
• Comprehend the unmet needs of key stakeholders and integrate these insights into field team initiatives.
• Coordinate scientific and medical engagement efforts to craft interaction plans in line with the scientific engagement strategy.
• Execute data-driven business strategies and decisions.
• Communicate, collaborate, and harmonize the perspectives of field team members.
• An advanced degree in a scientific discipline, such as a PharmD, MD, or PhD, is required.
• Relevant business experience coupled with a strong understanding of the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry is essential.
• At least 2 years of experience as a Medical Science Liaison is preferred.
• Experience in the Eye Care, Ophthalmology, or gene therapy therapeutic area is necessary.
• Background in a customer-facing role within the healthcare sector is important.
• Experience in presenting and/or interpreting scientific publications or clinical research is required.
• Familiarity with scientific methods relevant to clinical research and the current legal and regulatory standards governing the field is essential.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.) is necessary.
• Must be comfortable with technology and various tools/systems.
• Willingness to travel approximately 50% of the time is required.
• A valid driver’s license and passport are necessary.
• Advanced proficiency in the English language is required.
