Medical Records Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Accurately, efficiently, and promptly process requests for the release of information.

• Retrieve and return medical charts for patients.

• Scan medical records with precision and transmit them daily following established requests and procedures.

• Date stamp requests and emphasize relevant data.

• Verify requests and authorizations for the release of medical information.

• Conduct quality checks to ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and appropriate invoicing.

• Keep equipment in optimal working condition.

• Deliver attentive, respectful, and proactive customer service.

• Manage incoming requests, open mail, address telephone inquiries, and retrieve fax inquiries as necessary.

• Maintain a tidy, clean, professional appearance and organized workspace.

• Stay informed about state laws and fee structures.

• Accept assignments, provide support to additional facilities, and assist with backlogs.

• Safeguard confidential patient information in accordance with HIPAA and applicable regulations.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma (GED) is required.

• Preferably, a minimum of 2 years of prior experience in a medical records department or similar environment.

• Strong experience with computer software is essential.

• A general working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is required.

• Excellent organizational capabilities are necessary.

• Ability to type at least 50 words per minute.

• Proficiency in using fax machines, copiers, and scanning equipment.

• Willingness to quickly learn new equipment and processes.

• Self-motivated and a collaborative team player.

• Demonstrated customer satisfaction skills.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Compliance with HIPAA, state and federal regulations, labor regulations, and company/client policies is required.

• Capacity to maintain confidentiality, security, and ethical standards.
