This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Accurately, efficiently, and promptly process all requests for the release of information.
• Retrieve and return patients' medical records.
• Carefully scan medical documents and transmit them daily in accordance with requests and established procedures.
• Date-stamp requests and emphasize relevant information.
• Confirm requests and authorizations for the release of medical information.
• Conduct quality checks to ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and appropriate invoicing.
• Keep equipment in optimal working order.
• Deliver attentive, respectful, and proactive customer service.
• Manage incoming requests, open mail, address telephone inquiries, and retrieve fax inquiries as necessary.
• Uphold a professional appearance and adhere to the dress code.
• Maintain a tidy and organized workspace, ensuring proper storage of records and files.
• Stay informed about state laws and fee structures.
• Accept assignments, support additional facilities, and assist during peak periods.
• Adhere to client/site policies and procedures, including HIPAA and relevant regulations.
• Ensure confidentiality, security, and ethical standards are maintained while releasing medical records.
• Required: High School Diploma (GED).
• Preferred: A minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical records department or similar environment.
• Strong proficiency in computer software.
• Required: General working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Exceptional organizational skills.
• Capability to type at least 50 words per minute.
• Proficient in using fax machines, copiers, and scanners.
• Eagerness to quickly learn new equipment and processes.
• Self-driven and a collaborative team member.
• Demonstrated skills in customer satisfaction.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Must protect patient privacy and adhere to HIPAA regulations, as well as applicable state and federal laws and labor regulations.
