This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Deliver patient care within the scope of practice for Medical Assistants.
• Execute rooming and visit responsibilities, which include taking vital signs, reconciling medications, gathering medical histories, managing health maintenance, reviewing allergies, and conducting screenings.
• Support providers with or carry out prescribed procedures.
• Conduct venipuncture, gather specimens, ensure proper labeling, manage packing, complete lab requisitions, and track results.
• Perform point-of-care testing and CLIA-approved waived laboratory tests in accordance with orders and established standards.
• Administer medications and vaccines in a safe manner.
• Handle medication refills, insurance authorizations, safety and regulatory logs, patient communications, supply orders, appointment scheduling, and referrals.
• Communicate effectively, collaborate with team members, and escalate issues as needed.
• Keep a clean work environment and ensure that equipment and supplies are functional and adequately stocked.
• Assist in training and onboarding team members.
• Act as a role champion or participate as a committee member when designated.
• Offer age-appropriate care that considers patient status and developmental needs.
• Operate all necessary equipment for the position and undertake other related duties.
• High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or qualifying structured military clinical training/EMT; some divisions may accept two years of verifiable full-time Medical Assistant experience within the last five years in place of the program.
• A minimum of two years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical practice setting.
• Current or required American Heart Association BLS certification, depending on the division; some divisions mandate obtaining it within 45 days.
• CMA or RMA certification/registration from an accepted national organization.
• Successful completion of Atrium Health’s competency assessment when applicable.
• Capability to perform both routine and complex technical skills within the Medical Assistant scope of practice.
• Proficient in computer skills, including keyboarding, Windows navigation, email, and familiarity with electronic medical records.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Customer service skills that promote a positive patient experience.
• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance.
• Functional abilities in speech, vision, hearing, touch, and fine hand manipulation.
• Capability to perform essential physical tasks such as standing, walking, lifting, squatting, bending, twisting, crawling, kneeling, climbing, and reaching.
• Ability to work in environments with mechanical, electrical, chemical, blood, and body-fluid hazards while utilizing protective equipment.
