Mechanical Engineering Design Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Oversee the contracts established with external design consultants and contractors in collaboration with the Project Manager.

• Lead the technical assurance process, evaluate constructability, and manage design interfaces.

• Supervise, assess, and direct the design process effectively.

• Coordinate multi-disciplinary engineering teams to develop project solutions.

• Collaborate with technical, operational, maintenance, and strategic stakeholders, as well as design coordinators.

• Communicate with clients, Engineering Managers, Project Managers, contractors, and consultants regarding project challenges, scope alterations, and risks.

• Promote innovative, practical, and sustainable engineering solutions that align with client, operational, and regulatory standards.

• Integrate health, safety, and environmental considerations into engineering and design solutions.

• Ensure cohesive integration across civil, structural, geotechnical, mechanical, and electrical disciplines.

• Guarantee constructability, maintainability, and reliability throughout the asset lifecycle.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in managing design throughout the complete project lifecycle.

• Strong comprehension of integrated design delivery and oversight of consultant performance.

• Familiarity with Building Information Modelling (BIM) and common data environments.

• A degree or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline, such as Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.

• Preferred Chartered Engineer status with CIBSE, IMechE, or a similar body.

• Solid practical knowledge of various construction work types, methods, and design solutions.

• Proficient in CAD software (AutoCAD or Revit).

• Exceptional communication skills, enabling effective interaction with clients and staff.

• Self-motivated and results-driven with an optimistic perspective.
