This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee technical aspects and project execution for a variety of projects.
• Implement all mechanical tasks outlined in the project schedule.
• Schedule, coordinate, manage, and assess the resources and activities of the mechanical department.
• Engage in the development of new business opportunities and the expansion of existing ones.
• Serve as a technical liaison providing customer support and assisting regional business development efforts.
• Recruit personnel, set objectives and expectations, and conduct performance evaluations.
• Direct, mentor, supervise, and offer technical guidance to team members.
• Create and implement operational plans for departmental routines, tools, and resources.
• Formulate and enforce policies, standards, and procedures for engineering and technical tasks.
• Act as Project Manager and/or Senior Engineer for designated projects.
• Prepare or oversee the development of engineering proposals, scopes of work, timelines, and cost assessments.
• Prepare, review, and verify engineering calculations, designs, drawings, and project documentation.
• Certify designs, drawings, and documents as needed.
• Create, maintain, and enhance technical standards and specifications.
• Assist with recruitment and training initiatives across Orbital offices.
• Ensure compliance of departmental and project activities with Orbital’s Quality Management system.
• Lead projects of varying lengths and provide direction in a dynamic engineering environment.
• Occasionally perform field engineering tasks and engage in business development travel.
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• A PE license is mandatory.
• A minimum of ten years of relevant engineering experience is essential.
• Preference for candidates with exposure to heavy industrial environments and markets.
• Technical knowledge and/or expertise in various areas of mechanical engineering, including piping design, pipe stress analysis, rotating machinery, pressure vessels, hydraulic analysis, and drawing standards.
• Proven leadership experience in managing engineering teams and/or departments is required.
• Experience in a consulting engineering environment is preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with clients and engineering staff.
• Strong understanding and proficiency in current computer software, including business enterprise and project management tools.
• Candidate must be based in the US.
• Some field engineering work and occasional business development travel will be required.
