Mechanical Engineer, Operations Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead the design of mechanical systems that support data center operations, including HVAC, cooling, and thermal management.

• Supervise the optimization of mechanical infrastructure to enhance reliability, efficiency, and energy sustainability.

• Plan and execute scalable mechanical systems in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

• Provide technical guidance for daily operations and address mechanical system challenges.

• Develop strategies to minimize energy usage and reduce the carbon footprint of data centers.

• Manage extensive projects from the design phase through installation and commissioning.

• Collaborate with suppliers and contractors to procure compliant equipment and materials within budget constraints.

• Lead engineering teams and work alongside electrical, civil engineering, IT, and facilities management professionals.

• Ensure mechanical systems adhere to regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering, particularly in data centers, facilities management, or critical infrastructure settings.

• Proven experience in managing multi-disciplinary projects, including budget oversight and stakeholder communication.

• Strong analytical abilities to quickly and efficiently diagnose and resolve complex mechanical issues.

• Demonstrated capability to lead cross-functional teams and mentor junior engineers.

• Familiarity with energy-efficient and sustainable technologies relevant to large-scale data centers.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the capacity to convey highly technical information clearly.

• Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

• Proficiency in HVAC, cooling systems, chilled water systems, and mechanical infrastructure in high-performance computing environments.
