Mechanical Engineer

📋 Description

• Design current and future iterations of AssetWatch products

• Create mechanical product assemblies, fixtures, processes, and enhancements to existing offerings

• Ensure effective manufacturing techniques, appropriate material selection, structural integrity, regulatory adherence, and thorough documentation

• Complete component DFM/A along with BOM detailing, drawings, instructions, and specification of OTS parts in collaboration with the Supply Chain team

• Develop assemblies in SolidWorks by employing top-down best practices

• Construct and test product prototypes

• Guide new products through to production readiness

• Operate independently as well as with internal and external collaborators

• Oversee projects, uphold schedules, and communicate progress towards objectives

• Report to the Mechanical Engineering Manager

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in developing consumer products using SolidWorks (CAD)

• Proficiency in designing and testing waterproof enclosures

• Experience in working with electronics assemblies and production processes

• Strong understanding of manufacturing and production methods, including injection molding, machining, fixturing, tooling, and factory processes

• Knowledge of manufacturing engineering, from drawings and revision control to DFM/DFA, testing, and tooling design

• Practical experience in building, breaking, and repairing real products

• Ability to work effectively within a distributed remote team

• Capability to independently execute product development steps, manage projects, maintain schedules, and communicate progress

• Candidates should be able to collaborate during core working hours

• Preferred qualifications include experience in shipping hardware products at scale, collaboration with domestic and overseas manufacturing partners, hazardous-location design (ATEX, HAZLOC, or similar), industrial and safety-regulated environments, IoT devices, startup culture, diverse teams, and process enhancements
