This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Engage in research-level physics challenges within the candidate's specific subfield.
• Develop, resolve, review, or audit problems based on alignment with publication records.
• Generate comprehensive written explanations that a fellow specialist can follow and validate independently.
• Utilize specialized techniques in special functions, integrable systems, permutation combinatorics, or conformal geometry.
• Identify up to five areas of alignment with evidence drawn from the candidate's own publications.
• Take part in direct onboarding or a brief live alignment call to finalize the area and assignment.
• Complete a short assessment lasting 30 to 45 minutes if necessary.
• Contribute to CritPt, a benchmark evaluating whether cutting-edge AI models can engage in authentic physics research reasoning.
• Collaborate asynchronously on projects that support the training and enhancement of AI systems.
• PhD in mathematical physics, theoretical physics, or mathematics (mandatory requirement).
• Postdoctoral researchers, research scientists, and junior faculty are the best fits for this role.
• Senior PhD students with a robust record as first author are encouraged to apply.
• Published research on at least one of the specified phenomena, not merely on related topics.
• A verifiable publication record showcasing three to five key papers, including arXiv IDs or DOIs; first authorship is strongly preferred.
• Publications should reflect relevant methodologies in special-function analysis, integrability, combinatorial, or geometric techniques.
• Proficient working knowledge of LaTeX, Python, SymPy, and Jupyter.
• Familiarity with an agentic coding extension in VS Code is advantageous.
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher, including written reasoning capabilities.
• Availability to commit 10 hours per week over an 8- to 10-week period, starting immediately.
• Engagement as an independent contractor.
