Managing Director – Investigations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Oversee intricate investigations and litigation-support projects from the initial contact to the delivery of findings.

• Convert investigative, legal, and evidentiary goals into precise technical scopes and deliverables.

• Guide technologists, blockchain analysts, forensic examiners, and other specialists to fulfill investigative aims.

• Manage the scope, staffing, priorities, deadlines, budgets, documentation, and client expectations effectively.

• Test investigative theories, pinpoint evidentiary gaps and alternative explanations, and adapt strategies as necessary.

• Clearly articulate complex findings to attorneys, investigators, executives, courts, and other non-technical stakeholders.

• Ensure that methods and conclusions are well-documented and can withstand adversarial examination.

• Conduct hands-on investigative or technical analysis when qualified to do so.

⛳️ Requirements

• Exceptional communication abilities, both in writing and verbally.

• Proven experience in leading intricate technical investigations across government, litigation, cybersecurity, digital forensics, consulting, law enforcement, intelligence, or related fields.

• Technical fluency: the capability to grasp unfamiliar technologies, question assumptions, and assess conclusions critically.

• Proficiency in collaborating with technical experts, understanding when to defer to their expertise and when to assertively engage.

• Strong analytical and critical thinking capabilities, with the aptitude to integrate complex information from diverse sources.

• Background in translating broad inquiries into detailed investigative frameworks and actionable steps.

• Organizational proficiency to ensure specialists and workstreams remain aligned with a unified objective.

• Sound judgment regarding confidential information, privileged materials, evidence, and sensitive legal or reputational issues.

• Preferred experience in cybercrime investigations, digital forensics, dark web inquiries, open-source intelligence, financial investigations, complex fraud, blockchain analysis, cryptocurrency tracing, attribution, asset tracing, smart contracts, blockchain analytics tools, law enforcement, expert testimony, Python, SQL, data analysis, forensic tools, or related fields.
