Manager, Software Engineering – Production Engineering, Cloud Infrastructure

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Provide support and development for engineers through constructive feedback, coaching, context-setting, expectation management, and removing obstacles.

• Take ownership of the engineering roadmap for Developer Infrastructure.

• Oversee projects that fall under the Developer Infrastructure roadmap.

• Collaborate with the Infrastructure leadership team to set priorities.

• Define the sequence of deliveries and manage daily execution.

• Ensure the reliability of Developer Infrastructure and equip teams with the necessary focus, tools, and processes to maintain uptime.

• Work alongside engineering leaders to promote cross-team process improvements and efficient scaling.

• Foster a positive team culture in collaboration with engineering leadership and the People team.

• Develop a deep understanding of Chronosphere’s infrastructure, product cloud technology, developer needs, roadmap, customers, and constraints.

• Supervise direct reports and manage execution planning.

• Set roadmap priorities and delivery strategies in partnership with leadership.

• Drive the hiring process and manage daily execution tasks.

• Assist with production delivery and ensure reliable operation of developer infrastructure.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated empathy and understanding of how to empower and assist engineers.

• Exceptional organizational skills with the capability to manage multiple projects from inception through to delivery and production support.

• Proficient in translating high-level requirements into detailed execution plans.

• Proven history of successfully delivering multiple complex projects simultaneously.

• Extensive experience with comprehensive developer toolchains in a contemporary software development life cycle (SDLC).

• Proficient in CI/CD technologies, build automation, pipelines, and automated testing.

• Up-to-date knowledge of best practices in Developer Infrastructure and emerging technologies.

• Familiarity with public cloud infrastructure that supports multi-tenant SaaS products.

• Understanding of how high reliability requirements influence product development, validation, release, and operations.

• Strong experience in partnering with recruitment, making hiring decisions, closing candidates, and building diverse and inclusive teams.

• Ability to attract, secure, and retain engineers at various levels.
