This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Oversee or conduct fee-based sales tax advisory support services for clients.
• Assign tasks and lead advisory staff, including scheduling and managing the progress and completion of engagements.
• Ensure that reports are generated, checked for completeness and accuracy, and either delivered or communicated electronically to clients.
• Manage client interactions carried out by consulting staff.
• Execute client engagements independently or in collaboration with members of the Sales Tax Advisory Team.
• Prepare and submit engagement proposals under the guidance of the Director, Sales Tax.
• Prepare and deliver tax seminars and workshops for clients.
• Attend internal training sessions at Ryan regarding sales tax issues.
• Assist in expanding additional service lines for clients.
• Support the personal growth of directly reporting employees.
• Prepare and finalize exception reports for clients in French.
• Collaborate with the Montreal-based Advisory Team to address support questions from French clients during the transition phase.
• Aid in the technical aspects of the Quality & Assurance process reviews for French sales tax review files.
• Travel up to 25%, which may include overnight trips lasting up to one week.
• Carry out other assigned duties.
• Professional accounting designation (CPA-CGA, CMA, or CA) or a Law degree.
• At least seven years of experience in accounting or tax-related consulting services, industry, and/or public accounting.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Goods and Services Tax, Quebec Sales Tax, and Provincial Retail Sales Tax legislation and policies.
• Ideally, professional experience in the commodity tax field.
• Proficient written and verbal communication skills in both French and English.
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, and Outlook.
• Familiarity with Internet navigation and research.
• Valid driver's license is mandatory.
• Canadian passport is required.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%, including up to 10% overnight travel for up to one week.
• May need to assume supervisory responsibilities for employees in the Sales Tax Advisory Group.
• Capability to work in a standard indoor setting with prolonged periods of computer use and regular interaction with employees and clients.
