This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee the daily operations of BFG's Tax Department.
• Manage, guide, mentor, and foster the development of tax team members.
• Set clear expectations for assignments, deadlines, quality, communication, documentation, and accountability.
• Conduct follow-up meetings at both department and individual levels.
• Proactively identify performance, workload, training, and resource challenges before they impact client delivery.
• Manage the overall tax project pipeline and ensure transparency into project status.
• Ensure projects transition smoothly through workflow stages from intake and preparation to review, e-filing, delivery, and follow-up.
• Monitor deadlines, aging tasks, bottlenecks, dependencies, and overdue items.
• Assign projects based on team members' experience, competencies, workloads, deadlines, and complexity.
• Monitor team capacity and redistribute tasks as necessary.
• Provide operational and technical oversight for U.S. business tax engagements.
• Oversee the preparation and delivery of U.S. individual income tax returns.
• Manage workflows related to tax planning and tax resolution.
• Collaborate with CPA Advisors, EAs, senior tax professionals, QA, Client Tax Leads, and other specialists.
• Ensure quality-control measures, review comments, and rework items are addressed promptly.
• Supervise Client Tax Leads and manage tax delivery systems along with client-portfolio distribution.
• Maintain oversight of federal, state, and internal deadlines.
• Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), checklists, workflow standards, and documentation requirements.
• Enhance workflows through automation, AI, tax technology, dashboards, and project-management systems.
• Build a scalable, systematic, and measurable tax operation.
• Minimum of 6 years of relevant U.S. tax experience.
• Extensive practical experience with U.S. individual and business taxation.
• Experience in preparing and/or reviewing Forms 1040, 1120S, 1065, and ideally 1120.
• Previous experience supervising or managing tax professionals.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines concurrently.
• Experience in assigning tasks and monitoring team capacity.
• Experience in reviewing employee performance and providing coaching.
• Background in a tax practice, accounting firm, CPA firm, EA practice, or similar professional-services environment.
• Strong understanding of tax workflow and project-management processes.
• Solid practical knowledge of U.S. individual and business taxation.
• Capability to manage concurrent tax projects, priorities, deadlines, dependencies, and team assignments.
• Ability to lead, coach, delegate, hold team members accountable, resolve performance issues, and develop employees.
• Ability to differentiate between routine matters and issues that require senior technical review.
• Comfortable with learning and utilizing tax software, project-management platforms, dashboards, AI-enabled tools, and other technologies.
• Professional credentials are preferred but not mandatory.
• Preferred qualifications include Enrolled Agent (EA), CPA or CPA-track professional, CA/CA Inter with substantial U.S. tax experience, experience with Drake Tax or similar software, offshore/distributed team management, tax planning or tax resolution, and project/workflow-management systems.
