Manager, Program Management – Capital Planning

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Manages a team of project managers dedicated to North American operations, overseeing an annual capital expenditure ranging from $50M to $70M for MHE and facility infrastructure initiatives.

• Formulates and implements the capital strategy for MHE and facilities, which encompasses asset lifecycle management, decisions on repairs versus replacements, expenditure benchmarking, detailed budget creation, make versus buy assessments, and competitive tendering.

• Collaborates with site leaders to evaluate facility conditions, prioritizing maintenance, repairs, and capital enhancements for roofs, rooftop HVAC units, restrooms, parking lots, and associated infrastructure.

• Guides the modernization of asset tracking throughout North America, enhancing visibility into asset condition, maintenance records, and lifecycle costs.

• Manages project scope, planning, resource distribution, and capital deployment timelines while minimizing disruptions to operations.

• Develops and sustains a three- to five-year capital plan, supervises annual budgeting, provides monthly forecasts, manages expenditures, clarifies variances, and executes corrective measures.

• Ensures that business cases align investments with strategic goals, safety and quality standards, infrastructure requirements, and return on investment targets.

• Delivers capital plans, business cases, budget proposals, forecasts, and project updates to executive leadership to obtain funding approvals.

• Assesses and chooses suppliers and contractors, managing relationships to control expenses while meeting quality, service, and delivery expectations.

• Works in tandem with site leaders, Finance, and stakeholders across North America to synchronize execution and maintain oversight of capital plans.

⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field is preferred.

• An advanced degree is desired.

• A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience is preferred.

• Experience in managing large-scale capital projects within distribution or manufacturing settings, including MHE, facility infrastructure, supplier management, project financials, and implementation planning.

• Experience leading geographically dispersed teams and coordinating multiple projects across North America is preferred.

• Strong skills in capital budgeting, expenditure management, forecasting, and business case development, with the capacity to communicate investment recommendations effectively to executive leadership.

• Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Excel, along with robust data analysis skills, is essential for managing capital budgets, reconciling expenditures, developing forecasts, and translating financial and asset data into actionable insights.

• Proven capability to lead modernization of asset tracking and enhance asset data quality and reporting.

• Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.
